Message from the Principal

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to WISMUN, the inaugural Model United Nations Conference hosted by the Model United Nations Club of Wycherley International School, Colombo. The launch of WISMUN marks an important milestone in our school’s journey of fostering global citizenship, critical thinking, and principled leadership among our students.

At Wycherley International School, we strongly believe that education extends beyond the classroom. Model United Nations provides a powerful platform for young minds to engage with real-world issues, practise diplomacy, respect diverse perspectives, and develop the confidence to articulate ideas with clarity. WISMUN embodies these values by encouraging delegates to collaborate, debate responsibly, and work towards meaningful solutions to global challenges.

I commend the dedication and hard work of our students, faculty advisor and organising committee for bringing this vision to life. I also extend a warm welcome to all participating schools, delegates, and guests. I am confident that WISMUN will be a rewarding and memorable experience for everyone involved and will lay a strong foundation for many successful conferences in the years to come.

I wish WISMUN every success and all delegates a truly enriching conference.

Message From the Teacher in Charge

Dear delegates,

It is with immense pride and joy that I welcome you all to WISMUN 26. In 2023, when the former Principal, Mr. Dayan Fernando appointed me as the Teacher-in-Charge of the WISMUN Club, I took on the responsibility with a clear vision: to create a space where young voices could rise, be heard, and make a meaningful impact.

Today, seeing our delegates earn 109 awards and represent our club on national and international platforms fills my heart with inspiration and pride. This remarkable journey would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our school leadership. I extend my sincere gratitude to the school management for their constant encouragement and trust. I would also like to express my heartfelt thanks to our coach, Mr. Miteish Shanker, for his invaluable guidance and support in building the club to its present position today.

Our theme, “Where Every Voice Finds its Echo,” was born from a simple yet powerful belief: every student has something valuable to contribute to the global conversation. At WISMUN 2026, we aim to nurture leaders, critical thinkers, and compassionate global citizens who understand that true diplomacy begins with listening and respecting diverse perspectives.

As we prepare for WISMUN 2026, I invite each of you to step forward with confidence, embrace the challenge, and let your voice echo in the halls of diplomacy.
